In recent years, female creatives have been breaking traditional barriers and making waves. We have so many women before us to thank for their tireless work to allow women to be seen, heard and catapulted in their industry. From artists to writers to entrepreneurs, women are paving the way for a new generation of innovators and inspiring others to pursue their passions. This blog will highlight some of the female creatives we love and showcase their incredible talents. Get inspired by these trailblazing women changing the game and leaving their mark on the world.

Celeste Byers is a California-based muralist. She has painted over 100 murals in the United States, Mexico, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Taiwan, New Zealand, and Australia. Her work is inspired by the natural world and the mystical nature hidden. She hopes to remind others of the magic and beauty of our universe. She has had many clients, from Sephora to Warner Brothers.

Paola Villaseñor, better known as Panca, is a painter, muralist, and street artist. Her work focuses on the dichotomy and decay of humanity using neon and pastel colors, grotesque figures, and distorted shapes. Her work has been displayed at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, San Diego Art Institute, Bread and Salt, and The New Children’s Museum.

Kelsey Daniels is a San Diego native, artist, organizer, and baddie scholar. Within her creative practice, she’s a writer, singer, comedian, speaker, and curator. Daniels is an internationally ranked poet and has most recently been the opening act for rupi kaur. One of her founded adventures is Check, Please: an open mic experience that shows prioritized connection rather than perfection. Daniels honors those who came before her “by revoking consent from the failed experiment of white supremacy.” Her latest work is the Black Dream Experiment, a multidisciplinary social research project hoping to return to a place of self and community care and honoring gifts and skills.

Jazz Taylor is originally from the Bay Area and settled in San Diego after serving in the US Navy. She traded her boots for a camera, becoming a photographer and an FAA-certified drone pilot. She is passionate about creating photographs that evoke emotion, tell stories, and make lasting impressions. She recently shot Kelsey Daniels for San Diego Magazine, featured in the February issue.

Alyssa Mopia is the Co-founder and Creative Producer of Future’s Past, a  creative production agency built to help artists, entrepreneurs, and brands with stories to tell, developing thoughtful storytelling. Her number one value is human connection, and she enjoys helping others and believes in owning your story. In addition to Future’s Past, she is the Story Producer for the Netflix show Ultimatum coming out this year.

In a time where our bodily autonomy is being taken from us, when we are expected to be great workers and mothers, where we are trying to do it all and secure our spot in the patriarchal society we live in, we honor these women who are blazing a new trail for future generations of women. These are just a few of the female creatives we love right now, but countless other women all around the world are killing it in their own way. Let's continue to celebrate the creativity and talent of women everywhere.
