Unveiling the Wild and Wise World of Dave Persue: Navigating Art, Life, and Legacy
Diving into the World of Artistic Innovation: A Q&A with Dave 'Persue' Ross
Dave "Persue" Ross epitomizes artistic innovation, propelled by a heritage of creativity. Since the late 80s, his graffiti prowess has captivated global audiences, seamlessly integrating street culture with mainstream skateboarding. Transitioning from corporate to personal projects in 2010, he returned to his New York City roots, reinvigorating his family's brand, "Home." Now, as a bi-coastal artist, Persue continues to shape the artistic landscape, his dynamic designs echoing the pulse of urban creativity.
Q: In what ways do you feel your most wise?
A: When I am locked into my family, friends and work. The sense of completing projects in the most fashionable way.
Q: What brings out the wild in you?
A: Getting a first hand street level tour of the cities I travel to by the locals. Getting the low on good food and drinks outside of producing art is something I really enjoy.
Q: Who inspires you with their wild and wise approach to life?
A: I think my kids do now. They are free to express themselves and they do it well. So I get to witness that first hand. It reminds me of my connection to my inner child.
Q: How can aspiring visionaries find the right balance between pushing boundaries and drawing from life's lessons?
A: I would say that takes living the life you want to become puts you on that patch. At times it comes at great sacrifice and at times it feels it is going backwards. Just don’t let up! You’ll get there to some magnitude, some wins are big and some wins are small.
Q: How do you personally define a "curated life," and how has this concept shaped your choices and experiences?
A: Staying connected to my inner child and voice. Being naive enough to use that as a way to learn. Listening to people but at the end of the day trusting my heart. All of that is tied to my intense creative outlook.
Q: What are your aspirations and vision for the future, considering both your wild creative ideas and the wisdom you've gained?
A: I am working towards getting BunnyKitty animated. I will continue to build out licensing relationships and continue to collaborate with global brands. I will further explore my fine art side as well. In doing all of this I will start designing a Persue book. This book will capture a 35+ year career in art. From my work in skateboarding, the streets, BunnyKitty and the fine art approach. Hope to drop that sometime in 2025-2026.
